Towson is a town that will capture your heart. Rich with charm and history, this gracious suburb of Maryland has become one of the most desirable places to live in the mid-Atlantic. Approximately 59,000 residents call Towson home and the town is less than an hour away from Washington, D.C.  This charming town has the lively feel of a “college town,” with a thriving nightlife and lots of culture.

Towson came into being around 1750 when two brothers, William and Thomas Towson, came from Pennsylvania and started farming on Sater’s Hill. Soon, a small village called “Towsontown”  developed around the farms. In 1790, the Hampton estate was built by the Ridgely family, and in 1839 Epsom Chapel became the first church in the community. Towson officially became the Baltimore County seat in 1854 when the Courthouse was built. It was at this time that a variety of buildings were erected in an array of styles, lending Towson a unique 19th century ambience that lends a historical charm to the community even today.

Today, Towson is known as a college town, and it is fortunate to be the home of Towson University, a well-respected arts and science college. There is also Goucher College, and Towson is home to some of the most well-respected public and private schools in the state. Towson’s gracious tree-lined streets beckon a stroll through the interesting array of shops, restaurants, coffee shops, and more. Friendly and inviting, Towsontown Center is a shopper’s dream with 200+ stores.

No matter what your lifestyle, there is a home in Towson to fit your needs. Real estate ranges from condos to upscale million dollar homes to charming registered historic homes. Towson is ideally located close to interstate I-83 and is less than an hour from Washington, D.C. Public transportation is great and New York City is just a three hour train ride away with its beautiful parks, arts and culture, and world-class shopping.
